The One Thing Holding People Back In Their Careers
Hey friends,
these past weeks I’ve been reflecting about my career journey and how I got to the point where I am now. Looking back, it’s quite easy to identify why I went to point A to point B, and it feels like there was no other choice once you connect all the dots. But the reality is, when I was in point A I was full of doubts and it was not clear how I would get to point B.
One of the most important decisions we make in life is choosing the career path we want to pursue. It can be a challenging and sometimes overwhelming process, but with the right mindset and approach, it can also be incredibly rewarding.
To start, it's important to take a step back and reflect on your personal values and priorities. As author and career expert Kathryn Minshew writes in her book The New Rules of Work, "Understanding your own values is critical to choosing work that's fulfilling and energizing." Consider what motivates you, what makes you happy, and what you value most in life. This will help you identify the type of work and environment that aligns with your goals and values. Additionally, consider your long-term career aspirations and where you see yourself in the future.
Once you have a clear understanding of your values and priorities, everything becomes more clear and it’s easier to find your desired path. I’ve recently made a video on it, where I dive in detail on how to accomplish that and how to overcome common doubts people have when changing careers, and I’m sure it’ll be useful at some point during your working life.
Remember, career decisions are not set in stone. It's important to be open to new opportunities and to adjust your career path as needed. Make sure to stay curious, stay engaged with your field, and continue to seek out new experiences and learning opportunities.
Cheers,
Ignasi 🚀
