The One Ritual To Change Your Life

Hello changemakers đź‘‹

have you ever felt like you're on autopilot, just going through the motions? Truth is, this is how most people live their days. It's very easy to get deep into your day-to-day tasks and forget to celebrate how far you've come, and this happened to me as well many times. That's why I wanted to share a tool I discovered a year ago that really helped me avoid falling into that autopilot mode again and again.

I’ve seen some people call this tool “The 10x Routine” and essentially is a set of questions you can ask yourself every quarter to refocus and recharge. Here's the deal, by taking a step back and reflecting, you can feel:

  • Grateful: Appreciate the awesome things you've accomplished (big or small!).

  • Clear: Get a vision for what you want to achieve next.

  • Focused: Laser in on the actions that will get you there.

  • Motivated: Feel pumped and ready to take action!

If this sounds like something appealing to you, these are the 5 key questions to ask yourself at the end of each quarter:

1. Top 3 Wins: What are you most proud of from the past 90 days? And it’s fine if these are not really ground-breaking achievements, just anything you can be proud of. Maybe you finally mastered that recipe, got the promotion you wanted, or simply just nailed that presentation in front of your entire team. Don’t be shy about it and give yourself a high five!

Now the most important part comes: Why are these 3 wins the ones you’re the most proud about? That will tell you much more about you than you think, and will give you some clarity on who you are (random side note: this is a question I typically use in hiring interviews, it reveals quite a lot about the personality of a candidate).

2. Biggest Challenges: What were the Biggest Challenges? What did you learn? We all face obstacles, but guess what? That's where the growth happens! Reflect on the moments that pushed you the most, and use them to make sure you overcome the same challenge in the future with ease.

3. Imagine Your Replacement: If someone took your place tomorrow, what would they do differently? What are the things they would keep doing, what are the ones they would stop doing, and what are the ones they would start doing? You can use these questions to identify areas for improvement and streamline your workflow.

4. 10x Your Growth: If you had to 10x Your Current Growth, what would you do differently? This question relates a bit to the one above, but it also unlocks a complete different way of thinking.

For example, if your goal would be to make $2,000 a month, a way to do that is to get a regular corporate job. So you would spend your time finetuning your CV, developing missing skills, using your network, etc. But if your goal would be to make $20,000 a month, that path won’t cut it. The type of actions you’d need to take are completely different, and all of a sudden you’ll find yourself thinking at a level that you didn’t consider before.

5. Top 3 Goals: What are the Top 3 things you want to achieve in the next 90 days? What is the biggest hurdle to achieve each of them? And how will you plan to overcome it?

Be specific! But don't forget, achieving goals is all about overcoming obstacles. Identify what might hold you back for each goal and brainstorm a plan to conquer those challenges.

The 4 questions you asked yourself before should help you in making this question easier to answer: 1st one will give you clarity on what motivates you, 2nd one on typical challenges and learnings, 3rd and 4th on what can you do better to achieve your goals.

Ready to Take Action?

The 10x Routine is a powerful tool to refocus, recharge, and achieve amazing things. If you’re consistent with it, you’ll start seeing great changes in your live. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Cheers,
